Jürgen Habermas morreu em 14 de março de 2026, com 96 anos de idade, em Starnberg. O fato parece meramente biográfico, mas não é. Há mortes que encerram uma vida, e há outras que testam uma época inteira.
A morte de Habermas pertence ao segundo tipo, porque desaparece não apenas um filósofo monumental do pós-guerra, mas uma das últimas personalidades para quem pensar em público, em voz alta, ainda significava prestar contas ao melhor argumento, e não ao simples impulso mais lucrativo à procura de likes.
Aqui, o paradoxo é severo: a ausência de Habermas pesa justamente quando mais se multiplicam falas, opiniões e certezas absolutas e instantâneas. Nunca foi tão fácil dizer como hoje, e talvez nunca tenha sido tão difícil justificar e argumentar com profundidade.
